Narrative Assessment - 13 Oct 2015 - Literacy

Learner:  Lucy                   Learning Coach: Miriam Kamsteeg             Date: 13 Oct 2015
Learning Area: Literacy - Reading
Learning Observed
Today Lucy completed a Reading Assessment with me. She read Yellow Level 6 “Nick’s Snowman” to me. Lucy read with 96% accuracy. I then asked her to retell the story to me. She said, “two dogs want to play with. Nick and Sally want to play with snowman.” Next I asked her some questions about the text. She was able to answer two out of the five correctly.
Evidence of learning

Lucy was able to read her story fluently. I wonder if she has been practising reading at home?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Lucy is developing her Capabilities in Reading. She is reading many basic words fluently (Using Language, Symbols and Texts). Lucy is learning to make sense of the words she reads (Thinking).
Next Learning Steps
  • Practise retelling stories that she reads
  • Listen to the context of the sentence and look at the beginning letters of the word when sounding one out
